Rookie surf casters will learn the basics of rod, reel, bait, hook and casting into the sea. A fun and energetic adventure for every age. Learn to read the beach for the combination of subtle and obvious characteristics that determine the presence of fish all the while…casting away!

A motor boat ride up the river with the adventurous Captain Mike and his first mate, Jim - sharing stories about the Indian River and her history. Visit Joe Earman Island Park and the little nooks and crannies that are filled with natural surprises! THIS ADVENTURE MEETS AT MCWILLIAM PARK DOCKS.


Accept that invitation to go out on the boat! Feel confident as a new boater! Be a great first mate because you will know exactly what to do if the Captain becomes incapacitated. This adventure provides a basic understanding of boating terminology and tasks that will enable the participant to be useful “crew” when going out on the water with friends and family.


Whether paddling a Kayak or a Board – this is for all you gals who have wanted to try one or the other or both but either didn’t have the equipment or access to a top notch ACA certified instructors. A quick start lesson then you launch for a leisurely tour of the Indian River. MEETS ON DOCK BEHIND RIVERSIDE CAFÉ


Whether on a Vero or China Beach, you'll learn the first aide skills you'll need for when you visit those watery resorts that aren't as lucky as we are to have lifeguards! You'll pack a beach first aid kit and know how to apply the contents from the smallest jellyfish sting to the type of situations that require stabilization or CPR techniques. A priceless and memorable experience for any TRUE adventurer!


Learn best practices straight from the experts about interacting with our coastal playground. Learn to recognize the different signals that nature provides to tell you about what is happening beneath the water - before jumping in. From practicing entering and exiting the water for complete control to dealing with surf and currents. Like a Lifeguard will provide you with a basic understanding of the lifesaving techniques they employ along with ways that you and your family and friends can be more aware and less afraid.


Experience for yourself the exhilaration of riding a wave on a surf board or a boogie board. As long as you can swim – you can ride! Learn the basics of moving in the sea with the board and master the different paddling techniques using your arms and legs. Find out how to identify the different types of waves and practice the best way of getting on the board.


IRC’s best kept secret and highly respected local artist will be leading this adventure in creativity. Using acrylics, she will teach you to paint a vibrant ocean scene worthy of your day of adventure! We promise you will leave this class with your very own beautiful rendering of the sea and a few tricks to help you begin or continue your own artistic journey.

Truth be told, we women don’t always have a lot at hand for defense when we’re enjoying time along the shore. Rarely does a long walk down the beach or a boat ride with a new friend turn into a predator/prey scenario. And yet, it does happen. Thus, being aware means never being afraid. This adventure will teach you basic awareness, handy tools to never be without and simple mental and physical tactics you can use if you find yourself face to face with a human predator.


Ladies, this is an adventure made for us – most just don’t know it. Something about the rhythmic sweep of the detector over unearthed sand and the adrenaline rush that pours through your veins when you hear the alert tone of your detector makes the stress of the week melt away. Try it, learn it…you’re gonna love it!! There is nothing like it –while getting exercise and listening to the waves as you make exciting discoveries and relax.


Near the sea, with the ocean breeze you will learn gentle exercise composed of movements that are repeated a number of times, often stretching the body, increasing fluid movement (blood, synovial and lymph) and building awareness of how the body moves through space. A beautiful introduction to a 3,000 year old system of self healing.


A peaceful adventure created for any skill level to enjoy. Whether seasoned or fresh in these ancient arts of exercise you will enjoy the healing touch of sun-kissed skin, the aromatic smell and the melody of waves, seagulls, breeze and laughter. Learn why practicing on the beach builds the secondary muscles in your feet and hips and increases core work in balanced postures. The warm, uneven sand, massages, strengthens and aligns the feet while increasing overall enjoyment.

This gentle form of exercise can help maintain strength, flexibility, and balance, and could be the perfect activity for the rest of your life. In this adventure you will be introduced to the Yang-syle 24-movement Tai chi. Often described as "meditation in motion," but it might well be called "medication in motion." Once you try it…you’ll be hooked for life.
